The Center for Nuclear Facility Engineering (PRFN) is one of the centers in BATAN which has the duty to conduct formulation and control of technical policies, implementation, and guidance and fostering in the field of instrumentation engineering, electro-mechanics and control, mechanics, structure, and nuclear facility processes.
The Function of PRPN in this case is:
a. implementation of planning affairs, letter administration and archives, personnel administration, finance, logistics and household, scientific documentation and publication as well as reporting;
b. implementation of nuclear facility instrumentation engineering;
c. implementation of engineering in facility of nuclear electro-mechanics and control;
d. implementation in the engineering of mechanics, structure, and nuclear facility processes;
e. implementation of quality assurance, monitoring of work safety and radiation protection; and
f. implementation of other duties given by the Deputy for Empowerment of Nuclear technology.
Development and Prototyping Nuclear Technology Devices
Until now PRPN has conducted various research activities in development of nuclear devices for the field of industry, monitoring the safety of the environment, nuclear medicine, instrumentation system and control for research and power reactors. From this research in development, several prototypes of nuclear devices have been produced with certain features.
Activities in PRPN is basically divided into two groups of activities which are:
1. Activities in Development of Nuclear Devices.
2. Activities in Engineering of Nuclear Devices.
Activities in Development of Nuclear Devices
These are activities which have the objective to develop the capability of a nuclear device which has been made therefore becoming a device having several features and added value compared to the existing similar nuclear device. Besides that also development of the nuclear device is conducted to adjust with the fast trend of development and change of hard and soft ware technology. The output of this development is a nuclear device prototype with the same version number but different release number.
Engineering Activities
These are activities in making nuclear devices which follows the engineering life cycle with the beginning of a stipulation of the user requirement specification, then continued with designing, construction, installation, testing, documentation, until producing a prototype product by following the quality procedures stipulated.
