Slide item 1

Texture analysis by means of neutron diffraction is one of the standard methods in modern texture analysis. Neutrons have proved to be a valuable probe for bulk texture measurements, for instance for validation of modeling results, understanding texture development during materials processing routes, such as rolling sample from industrial product, or for large-grained geological samples.Utilizing neutrons for quantitative texture measurements has not required careful sample preparation to minimize surface effects, corrections for absorption and is generally cumbersome for large-grained samples.

The objective of the workshop activity is that participants can take part in the following activities :

  • Lecture on basic theory of crystallographic texture using the neutron diffraction method.
  • Preparation of samples for experiments
  • Introduction of texture neutron diffractometer(DN2) for pole figure measurements.
  • Texture data analysis using certain software

The benefits that can be obtained by the participants are as follows:

  • Participants can understand the basic theory of crystallographic texture using the neutron diffraction method.
  • Participants can prepare samples, take data and characterize samples using a texture neutron diffractometer.
  • Participants can do texture data analysis using certain software.
  • Participants can utilize the texture neutron diffractometer for the characterization of materials.

International Conference on Nuclear Capacity building, Education, Research and Applications (I-Concern’19) i-Concern is hosted by National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia (BATAN) and is jointly organized with Indonesian Society of Nuclear Medicine (PKNI) and Polytechnic Institute of Nuclear Technology (STTN). The conference will be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 6 -7 September 2019 under the theme “Encouraging Application of Nuclear Science, Technology, Innovation and Human Resources Development Towards Prosperous Indonesia”. The venue will be the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel in the down town of Yogyakarta.
